Why page slots last months, not forever: how pay-for-the-time-you-need works

On the pricing page we say it is not a subscription, and in the next breath we say a page slot lasts a number of months. That can sound like a contradiction. It is not, and it is on purpose. Here is how slots work, why they are not permanent, and who the 12-month option is for.
So is it a subscription or not?
It is not. A subscription charges you again every month or year until you cancel, and many people forget to cancel. A page slot is a one-time payment for a fixed number of months. When the time is up, nothing is charged, nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. You decide again only if you want more time.
What is a page slot?
A slot is what lets one card be live, which means guests can open its link. You can build and preview a card with any template without a slot, and a template you buy is yours for good. The slot is only for the time a card is visible to your guests.
Why are slots not permanent?
Because events are not permanent. An invitation does its job in the weeks before an event and a little after, while guests look up the time, the place and the map. Hardly any event needs its card online for years. If a slot were permanent, everybody would pay for years of a link that nobody opens after the party.
So you buy the months you need. A birthday party in twenty days needs a single month, and that is a small payment, far less than a yearly plan would be. Most weddings and college fests are covered by two or three months, which gives guests time before the event and a few weeks after.
How many months should I buy?
- A birthday or a house party: one month is usually enough.
- A college fest or a festival gathering: one or two months, to cover the weeks of promotion and the event itself.
- A wedding: two or three months, so the card is live while invitations go out and guests make plans.
- Not sure? Buy the shorter time. A running slot can be extended later, up to 12 months from today.
Then why is there a 12-month option?
For people who run events for a living: wedding planners, college societies, caterers, decorators and event teams who make one card after another. For them it makes no sense to buy a new slot for every contract.
A slot is not tied to one card forever. When a contract is done, take that card offline (or delete it) and the slot is free again, so the next client's card can go live in the same slot. Buy one slot for a long time, and reuse it as each new contract comes along.
What happens when a slot ends?
- A few days before it ends, you get a reminder in your inbox, so it never ends by surprise.
- When it ends, the live card is paused. It is not deleted: your pages, sections and settings stay exactly as you left them.
- Guests who open a paused card no longer see it, so choose a slot that covers the event and a little after.
- Buy a slot again and the card comes back as it was.
What do I keep for good?
A template you buy is yours for good and works on every card you make. The cards you have built stay in your account too. Only the time a card is live is limited, and that is the part you only pay for when you need it.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. You can build a card and preview it with any template, including the paid ones, before you spend anything. An account that has no slot yet also gets a special first-slot offer, shown on the store page. When the card looks right, make it live with a slot, then send it on WhatsApp. Everything you pay is final, which is another reason the short slots help: you only commit to the time you know you need. The details are in the terms.
Questions
Is a page slot a subscription?
No. A slot is a one-time payment for a fixed number of months. Nothing renews and nothing is charged again, so there is nothing to cancel.
Why do slots not last forever?
Because events do not last forever. A card does its work in the weeks around an event, so you pay for the months you need instead of years you do not.
How long does an event invitation need to be live?
Usually one to three months: one month for a birthday or a party, one or two for a college fest or a festival, two or three for a wedding.
Why is there a 12-month slot if events last only a month or two?
It is for people who run events as a job. They can take a finished card offline and make the next client's card live in the same slot, instead of buying a new slot every time.
What happens to my card when its slot ends?
It is paused, not deleted. Guests can no longer see it, and it comes back exactly as it was when you buy or extend a slot.
Can I extend a slot?
Yes. A running slot can be extended, as long as it does not run more than 12 months from today.
Do I keep a template I bought?
Yes. A template is bought once and is yours for good, for every card you make.
